About “A Pot of Honey”

Hi there!

Welcome to my blog. I’m a Silicon Valley-based tech professional with 20+ years of experience leading engineering, quality assurance, and security programs in large corporations and nonprofits. My professional interests include software engineering, open source software, data and analytics, and cybersecurity. Among my personal interests are film photography —I own a collection of over 350 vintage film cameras— and the history of California during the Spanish and Mexican period. I also collect and repair mechanical clocks, slide rules, and calculators.

As mentioned earlier, cybersecurity —the body of knowledge and practices to defend internet-connected devices and products from malicious attacks by hackers, spammers, and cybercriminals— is very important to me. I conduct research into patterns of behavior, tactics, techniques, and procedures used in attacks. In particular, I run honeypots to understand how hackers evolve their attack practices.

This blog presents some of my work in cybersecurity. I hope you’ll find it useful!
